Microbiological Research
Microbial research relates to all aspects of human life. BGI has initiated or participated in 10K microbial genome project, Metagenomics of the Human Intestinal Tract (MetaHIT), 1 million microbial ecological genome projects, and Earth Microbiome Project (EMP) etc., utilizing various next-gene sequencing methods.
PMseqTM high-throughput genetic detection of pathogenic microorganisms
PMseqTM (Pathogen Metagenomics Sequencing) is direct high-throughput sequencing of infected specimens, through microbial-specific database comparison and intelligent algorithm analysis, obtaining species information of suspected pathogenic microorganisms, and providing comprehensive and in-depth reports for rapid and accurate detection of difficult- and critical-to-detect infections, and promoting the rational use of antibiotics under Antibiotic Stewardship Programs (ASP) with insights of antimicrobial resistance and susceptibility (AMR).
Based on metagenomics technology, all nucleic acids from infected
specimens are extracted and subjected to different sample pretreatments, and
then sequenced. Through the leading-edge, polished, high-quality pathogen
metagenomics database (PMDB) comparison and intelligent proprietary automated
bioinformatics algorithm analysis (PMseq DaticianTM), the suspected
pathogenic species list and report can be obtained. Species information of
microorganisms, unbiased detection of 17,500+ pathogens such as bacteria, fungi,
viruses, parasites, etc., significantly improves the positive rate of pathogen
detection by our clients.
We enable customer's end-to-end syndromic or pan-syndromic testing of microbials' DNA, RNA, DNA+RNA from various sample types with the following proven products/platforms (RUO in US and Canada).
*MGISP-100 and DNBSEQ-G400 are supplied by Complete Genomics directly.
